About

Laura Rex

There is so much shit on the internet, It’s nice to know you can still find me. If we haven’t caught up yet, I’m Laura, a chronic over-sharer, slightly awkward and super awesome.

I love the challenge of doing things i’ve never done before. I love diving into what I don’t necessarily have experience in. Relentlessly curious. I’m all about connecting those dots!

The short story of it goes: My day job was branding and marketing. My expertise is in strategy and seeing the big picture. I’ve got 20 years of experience to prove it. I’ve got loads of seemingly random knowledge.

My background is a mixed bag of tricks. From nightlife and festivals with Webster Hall and Insomniac, a short stint in LA styling superheroes and celebs with Styled By Marvel and Swag By Fox. Back in NYC I found myself in hospitality and real estate with a side of investing — solving people problems, crafting menus, and being the hostess with the mostess. WTF is Boutique Living? My work has taken me on an ever-evolving career journey.

Phew, I know, right? My past gigs were like being an all-in-one-one-stop-shop! I took on everything from idea to launch, organizing like a boss and keeping a bunch of plates spinning at once. It was fun. I did cool shit.

Nowadays, I’m navigating the added title of MOM. I hauled my family to the forest aka Cairo, NY (its in the Catskills) so I could work my magic while keeping my creative juices flowing. Every other available moment is spent learning, unlearning and launching The What If Project.

Current mood:

When there’s an obstacle people are having trouble with, see it as an opportunity. Flip the script. Change your perspective. Do something different. What if we just fixed that? Why is everything that is different an obstacle or a threat? What if it was an opportunity? What if we did it different and it worked? What if the solution is super simple?

The simplest fixes seem to have the biggest rewards, and make the biggest impact.

I thrive on the thrill of discovery and the satisfaction of making things better. My approach may be unconventional, but thinking outside the box is essential for growth and progress. It’s about looking at challenges from different angles/perspectives and not being afraid to try something new.
